Project 1 Finished

Finally finished my Character Project. I completely redid the rig from scratch especially for this character. I also added detail to the model by smoothing and refining the model, chopping his beard, and closing his mouth. Finally I redid his textures, adding some corrosion to his metal and pegleg, improving the boot leather, and adding some dirt to his shirt and coat. Here are some renders, a turntable animation and a walk cycle animation.

Bounce

Here is an animation of a bowling ball bouncing:

And Here is one of a ping pong ball:

Finally here is a movie of a soccer ball bouncing:

Leon RIP

While testing Leon's walk cycle I discovered that his rig is FUBAR. Although the legs move OK, the arm manipulators are screwed up. Probably forgot to freeze some transformations. So today I bury it and start again on a new rig custom made for my pirate. I feel that if I have to redo the rig, my time is better spent redoing the pirate's rig. Here is the play blast that led to Leon's demise:

Mr. Bones

Here is Leon's skeleton. Creating his skeleton got me thinking about how I would add joints for other models like my pirate character. The tied ends of his bandanna as well as the bottom of his trench coat would have to be redone. I think I will redesign him to be easier to make a skeleton for.

Homework 1 Bouncy Ball

This first video was drawn freehand on the tablet in the Digital Arts Lab. I wish the shape of the ball was more consistent, but it is hard to get used to drawing freehand on a digital tablet. The entire animation was created using ToonBoom.

This video was created using Maya. It was a lot quicker to implement the same animation in Maya.
